Children’s University gives pupils the opportunity to take part in exciting learning activities which take place outside the normal school day – it could be before school, during lunchtime, after school, during weekends or holidays. The learning links to something children could do in the future at university and teaches them new skills. At Meredale, all clubs are accredited by Children's University and therefore provide credits for each hour completed. Challenge activities are also sent out during each term for children to earn extra credits.
When starting at Meredale, children are provided with a Passport to Learning where they will collect stamps for the number of hours they have spent on an activity. Certificates are awarded at Bronze, Silver and Gold level and are presented at a special graduation ceremony linked to a Kent university. Previous ceremonies have been at Canterbury Christchurch and Greenwich Universities.
The children below have all taken part in the scheme and were happy to show the graduation gowns and mortar boards to their fellow students today.
