Since November 2014 the school has been serving meals from new, award-winning menus which are cooked on site by the school chef and assistant.
Our two on site Chefs cook the menu daily which has been carefully designed to give children tasty and nutritious meals and snacks, which are also low in fat, salts and sugar.
The menus are revised each term to give plenty of variety, the chef's compile the menus with the help of the children and input from the parents too.
As well as a new kitchen on site there is also a learner kitchen for the children to use. The kitchen is going to be used as an extension of the classroom. Children will be learning how to cook as well as growing their own vegetables in our garden which they can then prepare and eat for lunch.
Busy Bees was awarded the prestigious Silver Food ForLife Award by the Soil Association for serving fresh and healthy meals, supporting local food producers and serving food that is good for the environment. This award is a ‘rubber stamp’ guarantee that every meal served to the children is freshly prepared from seasonal ingredients with meat produced to British welfare and quality requirements.
School lunches are served and children supervised by Mrs Elaine Hitchcock and Miss Chynna Wallace.
